TWICE's Pet Gerbil

Donation Suggestion (sensitive)

Recommended Posts

In the wake of Jonghyun's tragic passing, I am suggesting that we as a community make a donation to support a Korean mental health or suicide prevention organisation, perhaps with the money from Sana's birthday charity project or with a separate charity donation project.

According to the World Health Organisation, South Korea has the second highest suicide rate in the world and mental illness remains a taboo; this is a serious issue for such a highly developed nation. I've struggled to find examples of possible organisations to donate to. I know there is the Korean Association for Suicide Prevention (http://www.suicideprevention.or.kr/) but having no knowledge of Korean, I don't know if there is a way to support them.

We can never bring Jonghyun back, but we can at least honour him by moving towards making sure nobody ever suffers the way he was suffering.

I like this idea, but this forum is for TWICE.

No hate towards Jonghyun, I am absolutely devastated over his death, but I'm not all too sure how Admins would think about the suggestion.

Not every ONCE will have known Jonghyun or followed SHINee, but the issues that led to his suicide are issues that plague the wider K-pop community, the country of South Korea even. I think A Pink's Eunji made a great statement here: https://www.allkpop.com/article/2017/12/a-pinks-eunji-discusses-how-her-peers-in-the-industry-empathize-with-the-late-shinee-member-jonghyuns-parting-letter

I didn't know much about Jonghyun myself, but I can't begin to imagine how I'd feel if it were a member of TWICE that had done this.

Donations to help people in need are always a good thing.

However, we need to first discuss and plan this if we are going to decide on donating to an organisation for any events.

Personally, I like this suggestion and would recommend it for future events.

I think we should have a special week every year (preferably the week where this forum was first created) and have special donations for certain things, such as this.
But of course, it would be a bit odd to hold a donation for Jonghyun in July 2018. So my statement doesn't seem all that good.
I'm already planning on making a discussion page tomorrow for everyone to write their speeches and sorrows for Jonghyun, because some people will be unable to join his funeral, so they should still be able to send their regards with their friends and talk a bit about Jonghyun as well. Basically a whole topic for Jonghyun.

At first I read this as Jeongyeon oops :mn-tea:

Also, as this is a good idea, this is a Twice forum. I'm sad about Jonghyun's passing, but if you would like to start something like this maybe contact something with a wider variety of subjects. Maybe a general K-Pop forum or just a forum dedicated to donations.

Firstly, i would say that we are not donating for jonghyun due to the current situation, as some of you mention, this is a twice forum.

This could be seen as us onces donating to help people in need. Besides, shawols are not the group that should only support this due to jonghyun. Other fandoms can also donate to such organisation to prevent such things from happening to anyone, not only idols they stan.

Good idea! Helping those people that suffer that condition or disease. But how can we do that? Yes, donating and donation is good on our forum but if that event has been planned admin or mods need to contact some people and organize event according to the suggestion. It's a great idea but since admins can't organize events that they saw, they need to discuss and planned on how to make and organize such donation events.

But in the end your suggestion is great, but we or they need to organize and planned about this.

sure it would be nice to start a donation for this cause but i believe that teamtwiceforums would not be suitable for this mainly because , like what most of you already mention , it is a TWICE forum where everything should be twice related . However , if you really feel that this donation must be carried out , you can start it on other social media platforms where not only ONCES can contribute but also other communities ! i will be sure to support if this idea is seen through . thank you for your understanding and suggestion !

I knew that people would respond to this with apprehensions because this is a TWICE forum. I gave some of my rationale above but allow me to clarify further:

TTF was already possibly going to donate to charity as part of Sana's birthday support project. Earlier this month I asked where the money would be going and this was <3TzuNaMi's reply (emphasis added by moi):

On 03/12/2017 at 7:43 PM, <3TzuNaMi said:

For your information, it goes to the Sana Support Project which Team Twice have been doing for all the members previously. The funds we get will be used for either donating to charity, any kind of help organisations or creating something and giving it to JYPE for the members, and in this case will be Sana. The purpose is not fixed yet but it will be announced when the time comes. You can check this thread for the previous projects.

It was with these words in mind that I suggested the target charity of this project could become a Korean mental health or suicide prevention organisation. Sana is my bias, and I think she would be more proud if her birthday project was used in response to this tragedy than if it were used on a present for her. If the purpose of the Sana support project has already been decided now, then that's fair enough, which is why I suggested a separate project as an alternative.

Furthermore, charity is charity and I don't see why it has to be something directly related to TWICE. The forum has already held a charity blood drive and a charity project supporting UNICEF, which are arguably less relevant to TWICE than supporting Korean mental health institutions! If I had suggested donating to Water Aid or the WWF, then yeah, I can see why this would be an odd thing for TTF to do (as worthwhile as these causes are), but the way I see it this is relevant enough to TWICE and K-pop to consider worthwhile. For me, this isn't about Jonghyun, it's just that Jongyun's tragedy has awoken in me the realisation that this is a problem in Korea which should be addressed.

But I'm happy to leave this as a suggestion to be discussed between the staff. Please do keep me updated.

Hello, i've been thinking of some things for a while so i'm going to post my suggestion here
      1. Twice official good affiliate link
So before joining TTF, i've been in a some forums such as soshified and iheartfx. And there's something i notice in soshified, they put something on their forum:
I don't really know about how it works, but i think by affiliating with yesasia they got some money if someone purchase it through the link they share?
I think by putting that kind of widget (i don't know how to call it) on TTF it will help member to get official album easier and help TTF to get some money (not sure if it's a lot but i'm sure even the little amount of money will help )that can be used to take care of the forum. I know there's a thread about list of website for twice merchandise already but putting it on home would be more practical.
      2. Icon for every subforum
I know all the admin is kind of busy and maybe have thought or decided to but don't have time for this but i think it would be nice to have an icon for every sub-forum, not only the Twice member's subforum.
As a suggestion in case staff is too busy to design one, maybe you can open a icon designing contest with wonce as the reward?
That's all my suggestion for now. Thank you

Because of the so-many news, it's difficult for me to find the threads where people are just chatting or discussing about things. Like the sub-section's title suggests, General Discussion section is supposed to be a place to chat, not for reading news. Thank you for your attention.

In each Twice member's section, beside '(Member) Spazz Thread', there's also this thread called 'A (Member) A Day'. Sometimes it's called 'Daily (Member)'. Here is one for example:
In those threads, I have caught soooooooo many people post more than one picture per post. As the title suggests, we only may post one picture a day. Unfortunately, there's no clear rule about it, not even in the main post of the thread. But once I saw a TTF staff warned someone for posting more than one pictures in his/her post. It was kinda a long time ago so I don't remember who was the staff nor the TTF member. So.... Is posting one picture for every post the official rule of that thread? Please make a clear statement about this. Thank you.

I think an option of upload pictures from computer directly can be added. This can make uploading picture much more easier and people might upload more of Twice’s beautiful pictures.
If I am wrong at any point feel free to correct me.

I've heard that the minimum number of posts to enter the chatbox is 50 posts (liketheolddaysayy) That really seems a bit high - I understand it's to prevent spammers and bots from getting into the chatbox but is 50 really necessary? Feels overkill, I doubt any spammer/bot would post 50 times just to troll. The problem with 50 posts is that that's also a lot for newbies. They'll often be discouraged by that because it can take a fairly decent amount of time to get that many posts, and I think that chatting with fellow forum-goers is what makes the forum experience much funner and gives you incentive to keep coming back, and keep posting. IMO the post requirement should be dropped. I'd say to 10 or 15, but whatever you mods/admins agree on, as long as it's less, is cool. inb4 49 post requirement
Just wanna revive chatbox, with a basically non-existent stream of newcomers the chatbox is really slowing down, and we don't want that to happen  Make Chatbox Great Again
