Recommended Posts

From Zi yu to Chewy :hahaha:

Reminds me of Nichkhun, originally pronounced Nichi Khun but became Ni khun :hahaha:

I think the chinese pronunciation is Zi Yu according to my native speaking friends? Hopefully they're right lol

It's a bit funny though I was just randomly scrolling online about Tzuyu and thought of why her pronounciation is like that. It turns out that if you really use the Tzu You pronounciation in Korean which is 자유 her name actually means Freedom/Liberty....... and the scandal of Taiwan's liberty.... I kinda think some people have already thought about it though.:cy-omo: I'm now interested in studying Pinyin, Mandarin, and other Chinese Phonetics now. Hmm.

I have my own Pronunciation.

I say simply enough:

ZOE-YU

But i call her Zoe, my lazy Aussie way of things.

As I am an Aussie and a Queenslander at that, we have a certain degree of vocal 'laziness' aka making near pronunciations for words we cannot pronounce. Tzuyu name I would say it:

Zoey.

Zo - EE

Hahaha at first I called her "Tzu-you" and comfortable calling her that but I'm trying to called her "Chewy" or "Joo-hee" this time...  :ty-hmm:

I'm conforming to Chewy just to be on the safe side.

I pronounced Tzuyu (as pinyin Zi yú. ú not u) caz I know exactly how it is pronounced in Mandarin. I am from Hong Kong XD
Well to be honest, I pronounced it in Cantonese first. Ji5-yu4 in Cantonese pinyin
Then I know about Jjeuwi and chewy when I get in touch with Korean and Hangul

BTW This is my 100th post :D
Donated to the Tzuyu thread <3

Definitely calling her like "Chewy" is cute and adorable just like her! :mm-shy:

I've always pronounced it as Tzu-You though XD I feel like I've received some sort of epiphany on how to pronounce her name.
